Nokia rolls out Microsoft's Exchange Activesync in 43 phones

| | | |

Nokia rolls out Microsoft's Exchange Activesync in 43 of the company's phones. All models in the series E and N will have the support of Microsoft's e-mail service.

Previously Nokia has given customers the option to download Activesync to some of the company's top phones, but now the product should be supported in all phones based on Symbian OS S60. It is about the 43 different models available in 80 million copies.

In addition the Exchange Activesync will be preloaded in a wide range of models with business as a target group. The initiative is seen as an attempt by Nokia to attract the many U.S. companies now often choosing RIMs Blackberry for handling e-mail.

Among other suppliers who support Activesync is Palm, Apple and Motorola. Microsoft's e-mail manager will also become an important component in Sony Ericsson's first Window based mobile phone, Xperia X1, which will begin to sell October 10.

Sony Ericsson mobile phone Xperia X1 will be delayed

| | |

Xperia X1 will not be delayed, announces Sony Ericsson. But in the rock-hard competition is a risk that the company speeds up and launches the phone, according to analysts. The market for advanced phones is escalating. Meanwhile, Sony Ericsson's top mobile phone Xperia X1 will not end up on supermarket shelves yet.

Xperia X1 is no longer the marvel of technology that it had been if it was released in February. Nokia's N95 had many of the features already a year ago and Apple Iphone have today received both 3G and GPS. In addition, two advanced Windows Mobile phones was released in the summer, Diamond HTC and Samsung Omnia. Yet Sony Ericsson promises that the product will be delivered on October 10.

The market has generally found a balance between not to be late and not to disappoint users with a crippled product. The pressure on Sony Ericsson is to get the phone before Christmas, but the company has to be careful and not release a buggy phone. Source: IDG
