Hitachi's latest hard drive can hold 60 gigabytes more and draws 25 percent less power compared to previous versions. Travelstar 7K320 is a 2.5-inch hard drive for portable computers, with a capacity of 320 GB. It spins at 7 200 revolutions per minute and can transfer the 3 Gbit / s which means that it is twelve percent faster than the representative Travelstar 7200.

The new generation of disks is available in sizes of 80-320 GB of which the most spacious expected to have a price of $250 when it comes up this summer. According to Hitachi expected a number of PC vendors have the disks in place in portable computers, game controllers and compact desktop computers (type Mac Mini) in this year's third quarter.
