Nec will release a ethanol driven mobile phone, but only for sale in Japan. The mobile looks cool and you don't need a battery level display since you can see when the mobile phone runs out of fuel. It actually looks like a rechargable lighter. The question is if this mobile phone is more evironmental friendly than mobiles with rechargable batteries. With this mobile phone, NEC wants to demonstrate the technology to use alternative energy sources.
